The University of Salford has a fund to assist students who do not have access to a laptop or desktop PC for their online learning and cannot afford to purchase one.

This award will entitle you to choose a laptop from a very limited selection available on the portal of our partner supplier. This scheme runs in isolation from the Inspire scheme. Whilst students in receipt of Inspire funds cannot use that money to upgrade any laptop accessed through this scheme, they may wish to buy additional items from Inspire such as headsets.

The Salford Education Technology Fund is a limited fund. There is no automatic entitlement to an award. The award can only be used to access the laptops provided and no special requests for items outside the range can be made.

To help us prioritise students most in need, the application form asks some questions about financial status, barriers to accessing study and characteristics including some we’ve identified as priority groups within our Access and Participation Plan.

We’ll use the information you’ve already provided to us as part of this process. We may also use this information to make sure you’re aware of additional support available to you.

Please be aware that we will conduct validation checks as part of our administration of the fund and you may be asked to provide evidence, or confirmation, of any information you disclose as part of your application to the fund. Please familiarise yourself with the scheme by referring to the terms and conditions outlined in the Salford Education Technology Fund webpage.

We expect for most students the application should take no more than 10 minutes to complete and won’t need any additional paperwork.
